Guerrero vs Murphy

Do Guerrero’s defensive liabilities offset his offensive value? Is it smart to replace Guerrero for Murphy IF (as Ron Washington claims) it isn’t for defensive reasons?
The answer is No and No, but then again Ron Washington makes tons more money than I do.
I also don’t have the slightest clue how SF put up that many runs. Not because Cliff Lee is such a super stud post season pitcher, like everyone on ESPN is saying (sample size people), but because the Giants really aren’t that good with the bat.

Is NBA Sabermetrics (APBRmetrics) Dead?

Mark Cuban recently posted some thoughts on “NBA Sabermetrics” (he termed it “sabremetrics”) : BlogMaverick
It is interesting coming from him, considering he has previously been a proponent of “APBRmetrics” or “NBA Sabermetrics”. I think it does stem from his frustration of the inability to form a championship team in Dallas, but he hasn’t done bad. A large part of the problem is trading for older, past prime players, a la, Shawn Marion, Jason Kidd, etc.
Sabermetrics work much better in baseball because there is very little “teamwork/play/chemistry” in baseball, it is very much a 1 on 1 game. Basketball is much tougher because you cannot just replace a player and the team won’t miss a beat. Compare swapping Albert Pujols with Ryan Howard and Derick Rose with Devin Harris.
Anyways those are just my initial thoughts when reading the post. Feel free to tell me I’m a fool.
